Jr Bridesmaid

In a traditional wedding entourage, junior bridesmaids and flower girls are a fixture. They play a significant role in the occasion and a great deal of thought is put in choosing them. Junior bridesmaids are generally between 9 to 14 years old. Junior bridesmaids are too old to be flower girls yet too young to be bridesmaids.

Duties of Junior Bridesmaids

  • Although they may be too young to plan and organize a bridal shower, junior bridesmaids are expected to attend and provide assistance during the preparations and after the main event.

  • Accompany the bride to shop for a wedding gown and bridesmaid dresses and provide some suggestions.

  • Provide assistance during ceremony rehearsals.

  • Help the ushers in seating guests during the reception and in handing out the programs and other items such as rice bags and bird seeds which the married couple will use after the ceremony.

  • Participate in the wedding procession and stand in the receiving line when requested.

As with other members of the wedding party entourage, a great attention is also given to the dresses of junior bridesmaids. The clothing, design, and color selection are entirely the choice of a bride. It is expected that the junior bridesmaid dresses will have the same textile and color with that of the bridesmaids and flower girls. However, the designs may vary and should be appropriate for their age. Most brides really enjoy selecting the junior bridesmaid dresses due to the fact that the audience is enamored with how adorable these young ladies look helping in the wedding.
